“We need to remember that tolerance is not a Christian virtue.

Charity, justice, mercy, prudence, honesty — these are Christian virtues. And obviously, in a diverse community, tolerance is an important working principle. But it’s never an end itself. In fact, tolerating grave evil within a society is itself a form of serious evil.”

Letting someone do or believe whatever they want, regardless of its truthfulness, is not the means to loving them well. It becomes increasingly difficult to defend truth and goodness in our world—oftentimes it’s met with anger or accusations of being hateful and insensitive (or worse).

The truth is truth even if nobody believes it…we live in times where objectivity has been thrown out the window in favor of subjectivity and feelings. Whatever feels good or works the best for the individual is accepted as perfectly fine. This is not Christian. There is truth. There is objectivity. There is good and there is evil, and to blur the line between crushes morality and lives of virtue.

Love your neighbor enough to defend truth.
