“Pray, hope, & don't worry.” - St. Padre Pio

As a mother, it’s challenging to put these words into action.

I feel like I’m always worrying about something.

Is he getting enough milk?

Is he having enough diaper changes?

Is he sleeping enough?

Is he learning enough from me?

My constant fear is not being or doing enough.

Although intellectually, I know God chose me to be his mother because He knew I would be the best mother for him, it’s hard to combat the intrusive voices that say I’m not.

The spiritual warfare that comes with motherhood is no joke!

The Evil One will always try to convince a mother she is not worthy or capable of fulfilling her God-given vocation: before, during, & after birth.

Before birth, Satan plants lies & constant worries in the pregnant woman’s mind about the health of her baby in the womb.

This way, she allows this negativity to consume her & take the place of the joy that should be occupying her mind - she is carrying a beautiful soul within her, & the Lord chose her specifically to care for & nurture that soul!

During birth, Satan convinces the woman her body is incapable of birthing her baby & God’s design is flawed.

These thoughts cloud the woman’s mind & bring unneeded stress into the labor room, when the reality is her body is more than capable of giving birth the way God intended!

Here, Satan tries to infiltrate the sacredness of birth because the woman has the opportunity to help save souls - by offering up her pain & joining her suffering to Jesus’ Passion & Death on the Cross.

After birth, Satan again attempts to enter the woman’s mind to speak falsehoods about her ability to care for her newborn, & that pregnancy took away her beauty.

While it is true she may not look the way she did a year ago, what does that matter?

If anything, pregnancy has made her more beautiful, in a way imitating our Blessed Mother.

This is why Satan despises motherhood, because he despises the Virgin Mary.

Motherhood stretches a woman physically, mentally, emotionally, & spiritually.

It is the most beautiful transition & it is to be celebrated!

And it gave her the greatest gift this world can offer - the heart of a child.
