DO recognize what level someone is at in their maturity of faith, and give them what they can digest.
Water down Jesus and people are left with a lie. A lie cannot sustain. It twists and weakens and starves a person.
Try to sustain someone on what they cannot eat, and the result may end up the same. Solid food to one who needs milk can result in malnutrition or starvation. Only milk to someone who needs solid food - same deal.
When we craft posts online, we generally have a particular audience in mind. It’s important to have Christians online providing milk to those who need it; others who provide blended-up food for those ready to step up; others who provide raw apples but pre-cut; and others who go full on ‘you need all your teeth and fine motor skills to eat this.’ Together, we ensure that everyone is well fed.
But just remember:
In the comments, you may encounter people at different levels of faith maturity than that which your post was crafted for.
Will you resent them for being at in a different place? Or -
Will you grab milk from the fridge for someone in the comments who needs it when your post was serving off the grill? Or if milk isn’t your thing - can you send them to someone you know has it?
Can you whip up a stir fry for someone who is yearning for the variety, density and nutrition, but found their entry point via a post that was meant to be milk? If cooking isn’t your thing, can you send them to someone who does?
And do you keep seeking the proper food for yourself so that you can healthily continue to feed others?
Let Paul challenge you on this one today 🙏
