Floodgates of Mercy

“…one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.”(John 19:34 USCCB)

As shown to St. Faustina (Diary 299)

The pale ray = water, makes souls righteous.

The red ray = blood, the life of souls.

These rays poured out from the mercy of God when His Heart was pierced with a lance.

Jesus emptied Himself completely for us.  He had nothing more to give, leaving only water from His empty Heart.  His total mercy was poured out on the world, waiting for souls to open their hearts to Him.  Total vulnerability, total sacrifice, infinite love.

Jesus’ complete giving of Himself, bearing the extremist suffering and pains no man could endure to such an extent, moves me to tears.  He wants us so passionately and gave all He could.  Do we realize this, truly deeply penetrating, that we have EVERYTHING in Him?  He is the answer our hearts long for in so many misdirected ways.  His love is relentless for us; no matter how much we refuse Him or fall, He won’t stop loving us.  He is unlike any usual person we’ve known and far beyond the Saints we know.   If we combined all the Saints into one, it still would not fully capture how amazing the Person of God is.

There is something beautiful about Jesus reflected in the mother pelican.  When her young go hungry, she injures herself, feeding them with her very body and blood.  When God created us, He didn’t have to make us Saints and open Heaven to us, He could have kept us distant as creatures with mortal ends, but He chose to make us in His likeness and to intimately unite Himself with us, feeding His Eucharist — His very Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.  He chose to share eternal life with us.  We could not be raised any higher as creatures than to have the life of God in our souls and be made into His image as Saints.  The ultimate sacrifice of love—GOD HIMSELF.  He will not let us starve — He satisfies our thirst and hunger forever.  He is true food for the soul.

God’s love is especially shown in how He died for sinners, not the righteous.  He died for all who wound His Heart so terribly.  Even those who will eternally reject Him.  His love pours out on all.  He crucified all our sins on the Cross.  His love is constantly, selflessly, suffering for us on the Cross (in His mystical body the Church) to the end of the age in His desire to have us in His Heart, where He can hold us close and make us holy and happy in Him.  His love pours out at the Consecration of Mass and in Holy Communion, in Confession, in the redemptive suffering of the mystical body the church; He never stops pouring out on us.

When you especially feel the pains of life, the loneliness, and especially rejections, ponder what Jesus endured in loving us.  He offered the gift of His very self and all His suffering, only to have sinners spurn in His face.  To be your true self with people, and give your whole heart to those who are rejecting you and may never receive you, is a true test of LOVE.  Souls reject Him on some level every time we fall into sin.  So many souls never want to know God or have abandoned Him.  His Heart bleeds for them, feeling their absence at every Mass.  I believe His love would say, “You are made for love.  You are meant for Me.  You are meant for the Eucharist.  I have a place for you in Heaven and a place for you at Mass.  It tears at My insides to see you gone, like a lost sheep; I search for you day and night to bring you home.  Please come home, My little beloved.  You are lost, so lost!  See what you are missing.  Love, come home to LOVE.”

This love that poured out, emptying His Heart to the last drop, do we penetrate the depths of His love?  Only water left — Do we see?  Do we see?  With His blood emptying, His love and mercy are unceasing channels of grace to our souls.

Let us come to the Chalice of Life and let His Presence fill us.  Let us bring many souls on bended knees to receive this glorious King with grateful affection.  He longs for you.  He awaits you.  You became a part of His Heart when He created you, and He will never cease thinking of you, dear one.  YOU are a consolation to His Heart.

Let us console our sweet Lord with our love and suffering with Him.  So many souls will have nothing to do with Him.  Let us receive the love souls spurn from Him, as in the Oblation of Merciful Love (St. Therese), and console Him in His great pain on the Cross.  Let us bring Him many hearts.  May His love win souls over.  Lord, have mercy on us all!
