Saint John the Baptist | Patron of Eden Invitation

People came from all around to see John the Baptist. Everyone from tax collectors and soldiers to priests and Pharisees heard his testimony and wondered “perhaps he [was] the Christ” (Luke 3:15). In the midst of their struggles, they were eagerly looking for the Messiah, the one who would save them.

It is tempting to believe we have to be “The Answer"and fill all of the gaps and needs we see around us. But John leads us by example.

In this image, he prepares the waters of Baptism alone, his hand over his chest in heartfelt prayer. It is from this place of deep relationship with God that he has the grace to live his unique calling– "I am ‘the voice of one crying out in the desert, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord’ ” and when he sees Jesus, he proclaims, “Behold, the Lambof God” (John 1:23, 29).

At Eden Invitation, we ask for Saint John’s intersession for our community and staff. We want to build a community of people who encounter God in the Wilderness, look to Christ, point to Him through our lives, and say “Behold, the Lamb of God!”
