Duty is generally defined as a moral or legal obligation, or a task someone is required to perform.

But even with that definition providing context for the quote, many still may think “well, what then is my duty?”

I would ask, what is your state in life? Single? Married? Religious? Those are easy, serve your family, serve your loved ones, serve your flock. And yet, that sneaking suspicion in the back of your mind that “it must be deeper than that” is correct. It is.

In the last post we talked about carrying your cross. The pain and the struggles, the hardships and the frustrations. The surrender.

My friends, that too is your duty. In fact, it may be the single most important task that you have to complete in this life. - But this is where the quote comes in.

Set your heart aside… this is surrender. At first we must force ourselves to push out our own thoughts and feelings just to move forward… but then. Then we can offer those thoughts and feelings to Christ. Putting our heart into it means giving our heart to Him. In this, we fulfill our duty. In this, we serve the Kingdom.

Something to ponder on, day to day, even in the small tasks, we find ourselves fulfilling our duties. What are they for you, and how often to you offer those to Christ?
